The Head and Tail of the Dragon

September is an astrologically charged month that may feel more like a timeline jump than a period of transformation. We have two Eclipses, the Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on the 7th and the Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo on the 21st. Eclipses always bring fated endings and destined new beginnings. Many of the planets are in their final degrees, closing out old stories. Saturn retrograde will re-enter Pisces, Uranus stations retrograde, and a much-needed balancing Equinox occurs when the Sun enters Libra. All of the personal planets, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, will change signs with Mercury doing it twice (Virgo, then Libra)! And did I mention a Sun/Mercury cazimi?!? Ready or not, the cyclical lunar nodes will clear and continue. Tick-tock goes the Cosmic clock!

Saturn kicks off the show as the stoic Lord of Karma retrogrades back into Pisces on the 1st. What have you initiated in the last four months? What is your new sense of self or awareness or self-deluding? This is the final dip of Father Time in the dreamy water sign, at least for the next 28 years. This Saturnian review serves to seek inspiration before the activation. Saturn will support what we commit to, and in the sign of Pisces, it poses the question, "Is what you envision big enough?" What are the unrequited dreams, childhood fairytales, or present-day fantasies that we still hold somewhere in our subconscious? Just imagine if they could actually come true! We have the capacity to morph our future timeline, and the Universe is lending a stellar helping hand as the Eclipses remove obstacles in the path of our future destiny. Allow the spiritual waters to soothe and strengthen the emotional soul body. Saturn is also fact-checking our intended timeline. What old story must end? Where have we fulfilled our mission or spiritual purpose up to this point? What is the new one emerging? Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac, and Saturn is completing an old narrative. A retrograde Neptune is close by and will rejoin Saturn in this journey. Neptune, being the ruling planet of Pisces, serves as the grief counselor and comforter. Change is hard when Saturn is involved. The influence of Neptune softens the blow. Saturn will make supportive connections as the month progresses, namely, a Water trine to Jupiter in Cancer. The energy of this supportive connection can steady us as greater possibilities of emotional fulfillment begin to permeate the human conscious mind.

The messenger planet Mercury leaves the regal sign of Leo and enters its home sign of exaltation in Virgo on the 2nd. Shortly after its ingress, Mercury in Virgo will square Uranus in Gemini on the 3rd. Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, but is exalted in Virgo. But we must consider that the South Node is also transiting the diligent Earth sign of Virgo, and remember that Uranus (in Gemini) represents the higher octave of Mercury. This could be the proverbial mindfuck, or an unimaginable upgrade! Even though Mercury is fast-tracking the zodiac this month, Uranus' strong stance trumps the influence. The radical and revolutionary ruler of Aquarius is at a standstill, preparing for its upcoming annual retrograde.

Mars in Libra will challenge our growth as it perfects its square to Jupiter in Cancer on the 4th. Big moves are simmering, but not just yet. We can calm the body and mind to soothe any nervous tension stirred by this aspect. This energy of angst will pass pretty quickly, and the promise of blessings is almost palpable. What is the higher truth of our desires? Mars is in detriment in the sign of Libra, a sign that struggles to make a decision anyway. Perhaps Jupiter is just the push we need to turn the corner on our greatest journey.

On September 6th the radical societal game changer Uranus will station retrograde at 1° of Gemini. For the next 6 months epiphanies, ah-ha moments, and cosmic downloads are the name of the game when reexamining our duality in the sign of the twins. Uranus has been in an ongoing supportive Air trine to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, amping up the transformative voltage. Uranus, reviewing the Mercury-ruled realm, is allowing us to assume a detached approach to life, death, and rebirth all well as a heightened perception. We can wrap our brains around an elevated awareness of the regeneration potential and future possibilities for us on this planet right now.

With the North Node close by, we can allow the Universe to remove the obstacles in our future path for us. This is the limitless spiritual realm of magical musings. An old story is eclipsed away. The Full Moon will create a supportive Water trine to Jupiter at 19° of Cancer. This aspect is an uninterrupted flow of spiritual support, reassuring us that we are Divinely held. The optimistic energy is subtle, but we can sense something beneficial looming in the background. Another influencing aspect is that Mercury at 10° of Virgo is opposing the destined lunation. There is a propensity to lean into a hypercritical mindset, yet it behooves us not to dissect away a blessing. "Free your mind and the rest will follow."

Mercury and our mental state find redemption on the 13th as the Messenger God conjoins our galaxy star at 20° of Virgo, creating a Cazimi effect. Mercury will magnify post-retrograde messages as the Sun's illumination permeates us with insights. What previous life path of service no longer resonates with the future we envision? What is the new healthy in our daily routines or service to others? Where have we been giving ourselves away? By September 18th, Mercury will leave home and enter the Cardinal Air sign of Libra. Venus is the ruler of Libra, so we are seeking to harmonize the head and the heart.

On September 19th, the Goddess of Love, Venus, leaves the Yang fires of sovereign Leo and follows Mercury's path into Virgo. This transit can add detail to our values and ground us in virtue. A new perspective on romance and resources can be embodied. Step up the daily practice and listen to the mental and physical urgings. Venus moves into Virgo just as the second Eclipse is beginning. We may know our value, but we don't know everything!

The Virgo New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse occurs at 29° on September 21st. This is the karmic degree of completion and the second New Moon in a row in the sign. The first Virgo New Moon occurred on August 23rd at 0°, the beginning. Fated endings and healthy new beginnings in a sign, which, at its greatest potential, is the healer. This eclipse has a very shamanic vibe for those who are willing to remain movable.

On September 22nd, Mars enters its ruling sign of Scorpio. The mighty Warrior planet of action and ego is considered in domicile here as the ancient ruler of Scorpio prior to the discovery of Pluto. This is the personal intensification of the transformative energies of September. His cosmic lover, Venus, may have led the way to the Solar Eclipse, but he is setting the stage for the Equinox!

On September 22nd, the Autumnal Equinox occurs as the Sun enters the sign of Libra. This initiates Libra Season, shifting us from Mutable Earth to Cardinal Air. During an Equinox, the hours of day and night are equal. And in the northern hemisphere, the Fall Equinox shifts us from light to dark, from outer connection to inner balance. This is an opportune time for us to reflect on our intimate partnerships, course correct where they are out of balance, and also lighten up a little.
