The Scorpio Full Moon occurs on May 12th at 22° of the Fixed Water sign. It is a potent lunar culmination that feels quite uncomfortable, maybe even a little scary. Scorpio governs the eighth house of life, death, rebirth, and shared resources. We are delving deep into the subconscious underworld where the psychological lessons of the Soul can rise from the ashes of embracing the shadow. Those parts that have been bubbling under the surface are ready for a release that gives our Spirit reprieve.
Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio and therefore this lunation, is newly retrograde in Aquarius, so we can expect all of the things we buried alive that never really died to surface. Even though this is challenging astrology personally and collectively, as we dive into the fears, toxic patterns, and unhealed emotions of a painful past, this Full Moon does hold the potential for profound transformation. Facing the hidden truth, especially how we see ourselves, is necessary for transmutation. Remember that the darkness always serves the light! We can utilize this intense lunar cycle to discover the wisdom within the wound. Scorpio does not fear the dark depths, and we can embrace that influencing signature to recognize what must die. The hidden cracks and dense crevices are being greatly illuminated. The sacred essence of self is ready to rise and face the future.
We are in a period of huge planetary shifts. This is the point of release, where the Soul yearns to evolve and heal. These outer planets at play will create a ripple effect into the collective, and their themes will play out for years and decades to come.
Saturn is in Pisces at 29°, the anaretic degree. This point of karmic completion is occurring as Saturn prepares to move into Aries (following Neptune) by the end of this month. The Lord of Karma is trine to the Moon and sextile to the Sun, both supportive aspects offering staying power in this chaotic process. Saturn wants us to hold our center in steadfast pursuit of the long game.
Uranus, the Aquarian ruler, is at 27° of Taurus. The final stretch of an almost 7-year journey in the Fixed Earth sign. Uranus is conjunct the Sun with a 6° separation and therefore opposing the emotional Scorpio Moon. The simmering sludge erupts! We are receiving the last leg of downloads to jolt us into upgrades as the radical cosmic planet prepares to enter Gemini in July. A transit that will last for the next 6+ years.
Pluto, the dispositor of this Full Moon, is recently retrograde in Aquarius, where the Dark Lord will be transforming the very fabric of our society for the next two decades at least. This Pluto backtrack phase occurring now is revealing what we must let go of from the past to liberate our lives moving forward. We are at the turning point.
When I say the energy is shifting, I mean this literally. An earthquake occurred at my home in the western North Carolina mountains this morning, as I'm writing this on the 10th! Uranus conjunct the Sun in Taurus, Saturn at the karmic degree of completion in Pisces, Pluto now retrograde in Aquarius...the Pluto return for the US is playing out in real time. We are all in a pivotal yet auspicious moment of evolutionary change. Pluto is preparing us to be future-focused. May the graceful beauty of healing meet us in the grief of our breaking open.🙏
A signifying factor infusing this Full Moon is that Mercury, which just moved into Taurus on the 10th, will be in an exact square to Pluto in Aquarius at 3° of the respective signs during this lunation. This challenging aspect between our human conscious mind and the Lord of the underworld will reactivate and add a level of comprehension to the rare and recent Mars/Pluto oppositions. Now the long-sought clarity will come. Mercury brings the understanding and knowing that comes from an ability to transmute our thinking in terms of what we can no longer carry with us. We can consciously turn the corner on the unconscious themes of fear and loss around soul bonds and shared resources, which will be heightened, to say the least, during this Full Moon. Our thought processes are being challenged with a force that can propel us to a higher plane of awareness.
The grounding in this tumultuous time can be found with the Sun in the stable sign of Taurus. We must seek a safe stance between the two opposite extremes and integrate the archetypal energies of both signs, the need to be self-sufficient and the desire to build by bonding with others. Hold your center! These are Fixed signs, so remember the shadow always keeps us stuck if we stuff it. We must integrate the pain. The escapism tendencies that keep us in bondage must be released in order to live our best lives. (Huge Taurus Season theme!) This opposition of our luminaries is asking us to be brutally honest about our lives and how we sustain them, as well as who we share that fulfillment with.
The Moon rules our emotions, and if we are constitutionally capable of being honest with ourselves and others now, a new and healthier psychological presentation can begin. A sincere understanding of who we are requires the removal of the masks. An echoing theme of this Full Moon is the discovery of truth. There is a diamond under pressure within us all, longing to shine.
