Leo New Moon-Emboldened Joy

The Sun entered the bold and beautiful sign that it rules on the 22nd, kicking off Leo Season. The Moon will join the Sun at 2° of the Fixed Fire sign on the 24th, creating a New Moon. The initiation of this lunar cycle has our luminaries making major aspects to power planets, setting this New Moon apart. Leo energy is BIG, and in true form will be connecting with the major players, Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus.

Keep in mind that Mercury stationed retrograde in the sign of Leo on July 18th and serves to review our connection to joy, heart-centeredness, inner authority, and creative spirit. The most impactful aspect of this lunar event is the opposition to Pluto at 2° of Aquarius. This tight degree illuminates the destructive and transformative themes playing out on the collective stage. With both luminaries in the sign of the sovereign leader, we are challenged to choose a life of joy amidst the energy of death, destruction, and chaos. If there were ever a zodiac sign with archetypal attributes strong enough to do this, it is Leo.

The other challenging aspects, in addition to the tight Pluto opposition and Mercury retrograde, are that this New Moon is square to our Wounded Healer Chiron in Aries, which is preparing to station retrograde on July 30th at 27 degrees. This square can be a giant catalyst for healing the areas of our insecurities and enable us to embody our healthy inner Warrior. Potential progress, coupled with radical resistance, is the echoing theme of this Leo New Moon. The right use of power allows us to move beyond ego-driven anger, conflicts with others, and personal pain attached to the desire to be acknowledged.

Fear not, the Leo New Moon is also creating some stellar harmonious aspects. The first is in the form of an exact Fire trine to Neptune retrograde at 2° of Aries, sparking our creative juices and flooding us with Divine inspiration. Neptune and Saturn are closely conjoined in their retrograde in Aries; therefore, this New Moon is also in a supportive trine to Saturn at 1° of Aries, asking us to review our ability to commit to ourselves and our visions. There is also a lovely sextile to the revolutionary planet Uranus at 0° of Gemini, offering unorthodox yet progressive downloads and insights through our connections and collaborations with others.
