The Jupiter/Saturn square, which has been playing out for almost a year will perfect at 1° of Cancer/Aries respectively on June 15th. Aries is the sign of self, and this challenging aspect requires reconciliation with what we want to grow and the obstacles we must overcome in our efforts. This is the third square between these collective planets in the last 10 months; the first one was in August 2024 when Saturn was in retrograde, and the second one was in December 2024 when Jupiter was in retrograde. Jupiter and Saturn were both in Mutable signs at that time, which offered flexibility. Now that this dynamic duo is in Cardinal signs and both are moving direct, it represents a need to initiate action. A time to move beyond the limitations and structures of the past and turn the corner on blockades that have historically held us back. The archetypal energies of expansion and contraction are difficult forces to contend with when coupled together, yet they offer the gift of profound growth personally and as a collective.
What we are experiencing is the waxing square of the Jupiter/Saturn Synodic cycle that was initiated at the Great Conjunction of these two societal planets in the sign of Aquarius, December 21, 2020. In Astrology, this is referred to as a "crisis in action" aspect. A theme echoed by a background square at 28° between Mars in Leo and Uranus in Taurus, which also occurs on the 15th. This is a very tense aspect, pitting our will and ego against an energy of revolution and rebellion. With the God of War squaring off against the unpredictability of Uranus, this creates an eruption of unexpected events and a high potential for accidents. Easy does it! The most important message permeating the Jupiter/Saturn square is that positive recreation requires responsible action of growth. By operating in the big picture mentality, we can think about reaction and not just action. Saturn always delivers consequences or rewards for our due diligence or lack thereof, so we must choose wisely in this tumultuous time.
With Jupiter and Saturn, moving forward and the Cardinal signs of Cancer and Aries, the planets of optimistic expansion and burdensome barriers are at a major karmic crux. There will be a societal ripple as forced regulations evoke a frenzy of desire to defend our personal rights. The limitations of equalitarian and humanitarian Aquarius themes will be at the forefront of events.. We have to stand for something, or we will fall for anything. With Giant Jupiter in Cancer, there will certainly be an emphasis on protecting Home and Family. This is a true examination of existing and collapsing structures. Perhaps a catalyzing moment for a much-needed revamping of religious, political, and financial systems. The areas of instability are currently undergoing a revolutionary upgrade, one that we hope will support all the people. We must find the balance between the yin and yang, fighting and flow state, hubris, and humility. We are all being tested on an emotional soul growth level that is intended to support us in our future. Whatever events play out over the next few days as Jupiter inches closer to an exact square to Neptune in Aries on the 18th, will quickly shift our perspective towards the Saturn/Neptune conjunction and reveal what is true for us moving forward. The two will conjoin at the point of pure potentiality, which will become exact in February of next year. Is the dream we are working towards viable? Will what we are currently fighting for truly lead to long-term security? More will be revealed.
