Cancer Season & Solstice

The Sun leaves the Mutable Air sign of Gemini and ingresses into the Cardinal Water sign of Cancer on June 20th. This coincides with the Solstice, a time when our galaxy's star appears to stand still at its northernmost point in the sky. In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the beginning of the summer season, while for those in the Southern Hemisphere, it signifies the first day of winter. This cyclic emphasis encourages us to observe and honor the dark and light of nature, as well as to celebrate and observe our inner and outer light from a spiritual perspective. At the midpoint of the calendar year, this is a perfect time to reflect on what has transpired, course correct where necessary, and prepare ourselves to move forward, seeking harmony and balance in the process.
At the time of the powerful Solstice, the Sun is conjoined to Jupiter in Cancer, and together they will create a supportive sextile to Mars, newly arrived in Virgo. An illumination of our plan of determined action and what we are physically showing up for. The Solstice chart is not without challenges as the Sun and lucky Jupiter are also square to Saturn and Neptune in Aries, asking us to consciously consider our pace, our duty in obtaining our goals, and our motives. There is a letting go of old karmic timelines coupled with an eagerness for what lies ahead. Viable dreams only.
The energies of Cancer Season may initially feel quite intense as the planets transiting through the signs of Aries and Cancer create four squares. We must turn the corner on where we have been to get to where we are going. We are primed with a stellar Sun/Jupiter conjunction at 3° on the 24th, highlighting a new direction for big growth opportunities that "feel "abundant. This is considered the luckiest day of the year in astrology. The Cancer New Moon will occur on the 25th at 4° in the sign of the Divine Mother. Jupiter will be working in tandem with both luminaries, indicating beauty and blessings on the other side of what is culminating. The New Moon sextile to Mars in Virgo tempers the logic with any residual reckless ambition. A Saturn/Neptune Square requires us to reconcile our limiting past persona and embrace a new bravado, while remaining mindful of our emotional Soul body. We can create our authentic passions in a manner that is soothing to our nervous system in true Cancer archetypal flow.
