By April 15th, Mercury and the Moon enter Aries, joining the Sun, Saturn, Neptune, Mars, and Chiron, creating an extremely strong stellium in the first house sign. It has been over 200 years since this many planetary bodies have been in Aries at the same time, and even far longer since Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune have occupied this space together. We’re talking 1000 years! So, needless to say, this is rare Astrology, indeed. If there is still anyone out there who doesn’t believe we are in a time of massive reset as a humanity, the Aries New Moon could be the catalyst to convince them!
The Aries New Moon occurs on the 17th at 27° of the sign, and it’s conjunct Chiron, our wounded healer, in less than a degree orb. This screams move beyond the wounding and restrictions of every past narrative and create the life you want to live NOW. After all, the Sun will ingress into the grounded, manifesting sign of Taurus two days after the new lunar cycle begins, so let’s get busy living. We have all witnessed and/or experienced enough dying, don’t you think?
Aries is Cardinal Fire. Not only does it rule the first house of the zodiac, the beginning of a new hero's journey, but Mars, the ruler of this New Moon, is at home and in the hot seat. Mercury has just arrived with the inspiration, but will soon take the lead, moving past Mars. By the end of this month, we will all have more clarity of action and certainty regarding what our next steps are and why. After all of the Pisces influence (especially considering Neptune transiting its home sign for the past 14 years) it may have felt like we have been trying to start a fire with wet wood since February when the fated Saturn/Neptune conjunction and ingress into Aries occurred. This lunation is where we catch a spark… Finally.
Mercury brings a newly inspired mindset, and Mars provides motivation and physical momentum. These are personal planets at play, the ones that prove we can take action regardless of the world around us. The week following the New Moon will remind us not to overextend our energies. Consider this a necessary but controlled burn. Mercury will create a triple conjunction with Mars and Saturn, the two malefic planets, on the 20th; if we don’t secure our perimeter, things could get out of hand quickly. (check your motives) It is very important to temper our efforts with appropriate grounding and, above all, listen to our bodies lest burnout set in, and our efforts become stalled. Things are never as emergent as they seem.
