Venus Retrograde-Heart Alchemy

Venus, the Goddess of Love, entered Scorpio on September 10th, created an exact square to Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio on the 15th, stations retrograde at 8° of Scorpio on October 3rd, moves back into one of her ruling signs, Libra, on October 25th, and stations direct at 22° of Libra on November 13th. She will then re-enter Scorpio on December 4th, move through her opposite sign until she leaves the shadow world on January 7th, 2027. Listen, I am a Taurus Sun and a Libra Moon, a double Venus-ruled native, and this scares the hell out of me. But you can trust and take it to the bank that I will seek and find what my soul is ready to embrace. I encourage you all to join me on this journey.

Venus rules love and money, our resources and our romances, and all of our senses. During this extended review phase, it's time to reconsider what must now be revolutionized in terms of intimacy. In places where money equates to control, and Love has become toxically transactional. Any intimate bonds tied together with rotting insecurities, a sense of outdated responsibility or obligation fueled by guilt, hidden information, or any form of dark desire to manipulate or control now scream of a karmic connection that must come undone. This theme applies to our finances as well. What do we secretly try to control or manipulate in a need for power? Or, the other side of the coin, where are we operating from a place of scarcity or a lack mindset that desires to be demolished? Venus is about abundance; where are our lives leaving us longing, aching to be fulfilled?

Venus retrograde starts in Scorpio, travels back into one of her ruling signs, Libra, to review and rediscover beauty, balance, reciprocity, justice, and true Harmony. Not the lovely Libran aesthetic kind, but authentic harmony in our personal connections that long to exist; the ones that have been buried beneath the pretty picture we’ve painted in our minds and for the world to see. This is a matter of the heart. One that can no longer resist healing. One that craves authentic and healthy connection in all of our affairs. The next time Lady Luck retrogrades in her opposite sign of Scorpio will be in October 2034, so seize the opportunity to finally get down to the heart of the matter. These are eight-year repeating Venus cycles in a retrograde that occurs roughly every 18 months that serve to show us what is really of value.

Scorpio is the dark land of Venus’s opposite. Her shadow reflection from across the chart from her other ruling sign of Taurus. That place where she leaves the “I have”; the this is mine, and no one can take it from me mentality, and journeys into the deep underworld that is ruled by Pluto. This is the depth where “what we have” can be discovered. Scorpio, the 8th house ruler, is the place where our protected heart seeks to discover what a true Soul connection is, and how shared resources can support growth through combined efforts. This is not a comfortable place for Lady Luck. Her love is in trouble (detriment) here. Yet, the darkness always serves the light. As the Goddess of Love prepares for this descent that will take us into the inner chambers of the heart and soul, she is hell-bent on healing all of the wounds that have been blocking, draining, and cursing the intimate soul connection that beckons to be resurrected. Even if it means facing the pain of where we have confused passion for a healthy partnership.

This powerful Venusian transit will question whether a connection can sustain what is being revealed moving forward. This dark underworld journey where Love becomes raw, and money is primal, is not for the faint of heart. We are being asked to endure the intensity. This is a transformational awakening, an alchemical realization of the innate desires, unfiltered and unafraid!

Venus rules the body and physical senses. She is the most grounded planet in our solar system. The body always remembers; listen to the body as if you are trying to solve a mystery.

Venus is now a beautiful evening star in our sky. This Venus Star Point phase in Scorpio is powerfully enchanting, and the last emergence from the underworld of Scorpio, which has occurred once every eight years since 1926. She has been here before, but not like this. There are so many background influencing aspects and transits (Chiron retrograde in Aries, Uranus retrograde in Gemini, Jupiter in Leo). Truth around the connections we have created or completely avoided in some half-hearted attempt at loving ourselves will now become impossible to ignore. The next few months, really the rest of this calendar year, will require some real self-honesty and self-reflection. It will require complete honesty with others as well. We must demolish the notion that “A pretty lie is better than the ugly truth!” That is not living. It is an aesthetic.

I can’t speak for you all, but at this point of the game in this thing we call life, either it gets real, heals into something healthy, creates true connection in all of our affairs (love and money), or it is corrupt and can no longer be sustained. It must be dissolved. Luckily, this is the Plutonian realm's strong point. I personally have resigned myself to bravely live and love out loud! I will be writing on this intensely long transit, especially as Mercury joins the mix and follows Venus into Scorpio for the final Mercury retrograde of the year. Fun fact: Venus and Mercury will station direct on the same day, November 13th, with Heart and Mind working congruently. The clarity will come, contingent on our ability to see what was buried alive and never really died- all that has been hiding beneath the surface, ready and waiting to be reconciled.
